Cash collector app... you need to pay extra $0.90 for each different point of interest you want to add
Quite helpful in the Metro jungle of Tokyo but at least for me it lacks some lines I use rather often like the Yurikamome or some JR lines (e.g. Joban). Maybe its possible to add some new lines in future. Anyway the app is nice. Btw, I use the app in German, and the translation is not perfect.
... if all possible Lines would be available. I have to use either the Yokosuka- or the Shonan-Shinjuku-Line and both are missing. So i can not use it to guide me home. The Interface with all its functions is nice, but all thr missing lines really need to be included to make it a HIT with 5 stars. Until now only 2 stars with high potential...
Do yourself a favor and don’t buy this app. I was in a hurry, bought it and it’s useless. It hangs when using the locating feature, the UI is from iOS 4 or somewhat and so on.
This is better than having a picture and the search function is nice buy it needs a couple things to be perfect. The search function found Shimo but not Shimo-Kitazawa for some reason and Id like the option of having a kanji map with kanji search. Other than that, its quite handy.
This is not really a Tokyo guide, it is a guide to lines that operate, or cross, within the Yamanote ring (I think this app falsely describes its service). You will be lost if you are beyond that, which doesnt make sense, since Tokyo doesnt exist only within the Yamamote. No zooming map in search mode - annoying. If you are a tourist hoping to use this app, a warning! You will come home to a MONSTER cell phone bill for roaming charges. Do not use out of airplane mode if you are a tourist.
This application is of little value outside of the few that travel exclusively on Tokyo subways without using the interconnected train lines of Tokyo.
I bought 2 Tokyo subway apps for my trip to Japan, and this is the one I use all the time. Its good because you can input which station you are at and tell it what station you want to go to, and it will tell you exactly how to get there. One thing I missed, however (and the London Tube app has it - great app for London, btw) is station-by-station listing of steps in your route. This app tells you where to make switches, but it is hard to follow along what stations you should be passing (theres a map, but a list would be much easier to see and follow). This is a needed feature because it helps you to be sure you a) get on the subway going the right way, and b) know that youre going the right way as you pass stations and c) know how soon youre going to have to get off. Another great addition would be the ability to view station names in Japanese characters. If you still need help, the Romanized Japanese cannot be read by most Japanese, so they cannot help you. But overall, this is a lifesaver. Very good!
I came to depend on this during a recent trip to tokyo. Easy to use, clean interface.
I just came back from a week in Japan, half spent in Tokyo. Well worth having as an offline metro map alone. Did not use any of the other features though. Used in airplane mode the whole time, you need to have a lot of money to burn to pay for the roaming charges that would take advantage of data-using functions.
This app has been used daily in the 2.5 months Ive been in Tokyo. The fact that it works offline has been a huge time saver when searching routes and station maps. I give it 4 stars because no app is perfect but I highly recommend it.
Great tool for when I am out and about but the developer should add the Keio, Seibu and Odakyu lines. It would make this a 5 star App as opposed to a 2 star map
First they rip the official logo and map from Tokyo metro services, then they replace it with an even less detailed map and ugly icon and many stations and private lines are still missing. Not like this sirs!!
I really appreciate your publishment of Japanese version of your lineup, but for now this is quite useless. Here I list up some major defects I noticed. 1:Why arent the stations on the map screen clickable? It should link at least to the other features such as Google map and transfer route lookup. Link to stations internal map would be very useful. 2:The railway lines list is utterly useless. For what purpose is it implemented? It should be clickable to show the stations on the line. Nobody would use the search function on this small list. 3:The station list would be much more usable if it accept alphabet spelling and Hiragana spelling for search function.
This application can not find the suburban train.
Purchased it and tried to map my standard route to work. Failed completely. To get from Yotsuya to Omotesando it has me walking more than 1km through Akasaka Mitsuke to Nagatacho station to get the Hanzomon line instead of changing to the Ginza line. Based on this increadable scewup Im questioning if the person who wrote this lives in Tokyo at all!! It cant find my local station based on my location. Yes, I agree with everyone else, how can you have a list of all the train lines without listing all the stations on the lines!? Untill this works properly this app is wasting your time and money.
JRが分かりにくいですね。東京は、地下鉄だけでなくJRや私鉄を組み合わせない と不便です。あと、どう見ても間違っていると思われる所もあり... なかなか良いとは思いますが、ちょっと実用的ではないでしょう。
How do I apply for a REFUND !?!? I want my JpY 115 back ! A plain Tokyo Train Route Map would be better to carry.
Disappointing that every single type of POI set costs additional Y115. No free ones to test how useful the app is.
