Tokyo Metro App Reviews

Suggestion

Add a feature on routes that says how much a journey will cost!

Needs JR as well

Whilst it does what it claims JR trains are a large part of Tokyo travel and should be included for an extra 2 stars.

disappointing app

I just wasted my money to buy this app. does not work properly!! and there is another disappointing To add the POI it cost additional money..

Best tokyo subway map

Best tokyo subway map

Not bad but a bit unresponsive

Map was slow when Zooming in and out. Directions from station to station seem generally good.

Worthless.

You know, theres more to Tokyo than the Yamanote line. This app basically covers whats inside the Yamanote Loop, but for the millions of people who live outside that area - but still in Tokyo - it is utterly worthless. I wish someone would make a REAL route planner app, in English, for those of us living in anything other than CENTRAL Tokyo. Basically JR Easts service area. Now THAT would actually be worth $0.99. Heck, more than that.

A nice app for Japanese deficient gaijin in Tokyo

Definitely worth checking out, especially at this price. The developers have already made improvements since launch.

Not worth 1cent

Useless...

Buy it!

This is the best app to use to get around Tokyo. It can help you find your way around anywhere in Tokyo. The route feature is fantastic.

great app

Map is crystal-clear, easy to navigate; app functions are well thought-out. If you can add timetable function (with wi-fi connection based on Hyperdia or equivalent) it would be incredible. *Please* make one of these for the JR system! It would be the perfect complement to this app.

must-have app for Tokyo visitor!

Because Tokyo subway system is so confusing for the first visitor, I worried a lot before I arrived in Tokyo. But fortunately, it is easy to find how to go to the places with this app - Tokyo Underground. It is very clean and uses same colors of subway lines. You dont have to stop to find out how to move in Subway. Calcuating routes and times is also useful. I highly recommend this app. I love it! But Yurikamoe line and Rinkai line from Obaiba are missed. Obaiba is also famous place for a Tokyo traveller. Please update these missed lines.

Best subway app for Tokyo.

This app works great. My only suggestion is that they should have Japanese station names above the English translations. (If you look at Beijing subway app, they have both chinese characters and English translations)

Not satisfied

There is only English available. I bought it because I thought I can have it in Japanese as well. Somewhat dissapointed.

Waste of money

It does not have all the stations. The Japanese writing in boxes do not show up on maps, just blank boxes. Save your money.

Helpful

Nice app..for .99 cent/100 yen you cant go wrong. I highly recommend it for the cost and features. Nice clear map, scaleable, and most underground route information. Easy to use and VERY convenient to have in your pocket for quick access. HOWEVER....the Namboku line ends at Akbane Iwabuchi? It continues on to Urawa Misono (as SAITAMA RAILWAY). What happened there? Also, there are several JR lines beside the Yamanote that intersect and connect inside of central Tokyo; Kehin Tohoku, Saikyo, Sobu/Chuo line are the most needed. If you could add a timetable list function in addition to cleaning up the missing lines mentioned, it would be a perfect 5. But maybe you could make a companion app for JR EAST Tokyo/Kanto and that would be AWESOME. *PLEASE* make a JR East app!

Good, but missing Den-en-toshi Line

Its missing the Den-en-toshi line! I hope youre not going to Sangenjaya or beyond.

Waste of money

Very dissapointing app even at $0.99. Not well thought out. Whoever developed thus didnt look at it from a user point of view. The Settings option doest work either. Youre better off scanning the official map and put it on your iPhone. Refund please.

Not for Bujinkan

This ap is useless if you are going to Noda. The maps stop just outside Ueno. It doesnt even have Kashiwa. It is not for Bujinkan folks. Spread the word.

Maybe useful for someone compltely ignorant about Tokyo

Ugly maps, not scalable to a useful size, WAY too many useless features that dont work. Missing important lines. Jorudan or Hyperdia are much more complete/efficient. The only thing it has over any other apps are the maps, but developers dont put any effort to improve those.

Very helpful

Solid and very useful application. Most of my travel is in central Tokyo so this is good for me. Helpful to add more lines & wider coverage. I would have paid more for the app for such coverage.
