Useless outside of central Tokyo

This is a good app for travel within the Tokyo subway network. It would be better if it included fare info. Station maps would also help.

Anyway, this app is totally worthless for any travel outside the Tokyo subway network and Yamanote line. It wont even help you get to Narita.

An alternative is Jorudan, a free Internet service which works for trains all over Japan.
